This past week I’ve been spending my ministry time fundraising instead of going to my team’s ministry partner, One Way Community. This has been hard for a lot of reasons. I don’t get to be with my whole team, I’m waiting on the Lord, and it’s uncomfortable to reach out to people. It can be easy to let comparison get the best of me, when I wonder why He hasn’t provided for me yet. It’s been a challenging time.

However, a few days ago I was spending some time with God in prayer, and He reminded me of some really good things.

My worth is not based on my productivity. Yes, it’s good to be productive with my time and resources, but it’s not a determiner of how much I’m worth to God, or how much He loves me. And sometimes, God’s movement looks a lot like rest, not efficiency.

The other thing He told me was that my actions can’t earn His provision. Yes, I should do my part to reach out to people and invite them into partnership with what God is doing. At the same time, I shouldn’t get too caught up in my own productivity or actions. I can’t just “try harder” and God will provide. He doesn’t owe me anything: it doesn’t work that way!

On Wednesday God challenged me to trust Him enough to take a day completely off of fundraising. It was hard, but it honestly required more faith than working earnestly towards my goal. And even though I didn’t experience a miracle, it was good to take some weight off of my own shoulders.

It can be easy to get discouraged when I keep praying and hoping for a miracle from God and I seem to only inch towards my final deadline. However, as a fundraising “team,” we’ve been reminding each other to recognize this time as an opportunity, and that God clearly has us here for a purpose. He knows the right timing for everything, and He’s a big enough God to do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine – including getting us fully-funded. There’s obviously a reason that we haven’t gotten there yet!

With that being said, would you prayerfully consider supporting me on my gap year? I only need $1,744 to be fully-funded! I’m so close! Anything and everything helps, and the sooner I get fully-funded, the sooner I can join my team working with One Way Community! If you want to know more about this ministry, you should follow along with their Instagram at @owc.gt and @owc.us

Again, thank you all for the support! Love you all, and I’m praying for you! Until next time!

Also, I am linking the blogs of the rest of my non-fully-funded squadmates below – if you feel led, you can help them out too!

One response to “What God is Teaching Me Through Fundraising”

  1. Turning your concerns over to the Lord is an act of faith. Rest in the fact this is in His hands. We’re believe in the Father with you!
