A lot has happened since I last posted, and I’m so excited to share it all with you!! Make sure to subscribe to my blog with an email or phone number and follow along on my Instagram at @travelswithshanan and my Facebook so you don’t miss a new update!
So here we go!
On Monday, September 14th, the two separate cohorts of my squad got to join together as one! Everyone was soooo excited about this. It’s amazing to be all together and to explore all the different dynamics and relationships that we get the opportunity to grow in this environment, now that our whole squad is together. And yay for no Covid!
More good news!! We now get to shower indoors in the new showers! With temperatures dropping to the 70s during the day and 60s, 50s and even 40s (there’s a day this week where it’ll be a bit chilly at night!) I am so especially grateful to have a warm building to shower inside, even if the water isn’t always hot.
I saved the best news for last! You’ll want to fasten your seat belts for this one, because it’s going to be a ride! On October 3rd, my squad and I will get the opportunity to travel to DeQuincy, Louisiana in order to help with disaster relief from the recent hurricane Laura! We will be assisting through the organization Samaritan’s Purse! We’ll be staying in Louisiana for a week; during the day we’ll be helping out, and at night we’ll be sleeping in a church. I’m pretty sure all of us were blindsided by this news – I’m so freaking exciting to get the opportunity to do ministry here in the states, in spite of Covid restrictions!!
I just had to share this exciting news with you all! Please be praying for my squad and I as we go into this incredible opportunity – for safe travels, for effective ministry and assistance despite Covid restrictions, and for God to open hearts and minds through this experience!
God has been working on my heart a lot this week through the incredible teachings and devotional times! We’ve gotten the chance to listen and participate in sessions on Healthy vs. Unhealthy Spirituality, Law vs. Grace, Shame vs. Conviction, and Forgiveness. I’ve been reminded once again that God is so much bigger than I can even think of, and that He needs to be in every aspect of my life. I’m so excited to dig even deeper through more teachings in the weeks to come.
Once again, thank you all so much for the support! I’m now over halfway to fully-funded! I only need $1,910 more to reach my October 15th deadline!! God has been providing in so many incredible ways. I would love to ask you to consider partnering with me as my squad and I strive to further His kingdom here on earth! Anything and everything helps. This is such a season of growth; I’m so thrilled to continue sharing everything God is doing, and I hope you’ll follow along on this journey!
P.S. I promise I’ll share about my awesome team soon! Just to reiterate, they are the group of sweet girls that I’m spending intentional time with throughout the week; I’ll be doing ministry with them as well!
wow so many fun things ahead && i get to do em with ya! the Lord be good!!
