It's officially been 11 days since I arrived on the Adventures in Missions campus! I can hardly believe it. I thought some of y'all might be wondering what exactly I've been up to!

our first rainy day!

Don't forget to subscribe to my blog with an email or phone number so you can stay up to date on everything! You can also follow my Instagram account @travelswithshanan and my Facebook, where I'll share updates too!

Here's a little taste of what my days are looking like!

6:45ish - Wake up for the day!

8:00am - Breakfast time!

9:00am - Devotional time with the Lord! Right now we're getting a taste of different methods and styles of spending time in God's presence through the Word.

10:00am - Worship as a squad!

11:00am - A session or teaching! So far we've learned about giving healthy feedback (encouraging & constructive feedback meant to help each other become more Christlike), vulnerability, gossip versus honor, our World Race commitment, boundaries, falling in love with the Word of God, the cost of being a disciple, and being the church (in no particular order).

12:30pm - Lunch! This could be anything from corn dogs to some killer shredded chicken tacos.

1:30pm - Usually we meet up in our squad meeting point for either some more teaching, distribution of cleaning duties, or some other activity. Afterwards, if we have any extra time, we have free time until dinner.

5:30pm - Dinner!

6:30pm - Team Time! On Mondays we have a Bible study as a team, Tuesdays are a fun team time, Wednesdays are gratitude team time with an extra time of squad worship from 7:30-8:30, Thursdays are on feedback, and our team time on Fridays is spent debriefing the week. Saturdays and Sundays are our "off" days. Our scheduled activity on Saturday is a squad exercise time and showers and on Sunday we have our Sabbath and squad church (I'm still not sure what exactly this encompasses, but we should find out this Sunday!)

7:30pm - Free time!

Some additional notes!

- Showers! Right now we are still taking bucket showers. In case you're wondering what the heck that means (I was too, 9 days ago!), I'll give you the run-down. There are wooden shower stalls with curtains, and each one has a large plastic bucket with a small plastic liquid measuring cup inside it. We fill up the bucket with cold water from a hose and then use it inside the stall to get clean and showered. It's simultaneously not as bad as I expected, but also kind of a pain. We had to wait a while for our first shower, so I'm not really complaining! It gets hot during the day and it feels so good to get clean! Sometime soon we will be transitioning the the new showers that are currently being built for us (with running water!)

- Phones! In the morning our phones are held onto by our leadership and we get them back after our last scheduled activity of the day, but we have them all day on Saturdays and Sundays. We also get to sleep in an hour later on Saturdays and Sundays, woohoo!

And of course there's always room for flexibility in our plans and schedules! I'm just so excited to be here, and the spiritual nourishment I'm experiencing now is only a taste of everything there is to come! Also, on either Monday or Wednesday of this week, the two cohorts of my squad will get to come together as one, and I'm so thrilled for that!

Lastly, I am so grateful to everyone's support! It's through the Lord's provision that I've gotten this far, both financially and physically/mentally/emotionally. Your prayers are such a blessing! And as a fundraising update, I currently am over halfway to fully-funded!! As of now, I only need $2,060 more to meet my next $10,000 deadline on October 15th!! I would encourage you to pray about supporting me. God is doing incredible things through this season, and your partnership would make such an impact! Every little bit helps - even as little as $5 a month!

Thank you so much for reading this far!! Please, please reach out if you have any questions whatsoever, or have any ideas for new blog posts! I'd love, love to talk about what God is doing in this season. And stay tuned for an upcoming blog post about my team (the group of lovely ladies who I get to intentionally invest in through "small group" type settings during the week and who I'll be doing ministry with!)

P.S. A big shoutout to my amazing squad !!
